Jean Cocteau was a poet, novelist, essayist, playwright, painter, critic, filmmaker and who knows what else. He lived and starred in the avant-garde period in Paris, actively participating in all of them, but without adhering to any of them in particular.Perhaps it was surrealism, with all its poetic and evocative capacity that best suited his art, but it was so unclassifiable that we could say that it is a cocteauian style.

Already considered a heavyweight, he lived the twentieth century as a legendary figure, able to carry out any project. In his later years he devoted himself more to painting, decorating several churches on the Côte d'Azur. When Cocteau learned of the death of his friend Edith Piaf, he had a heart attack and died. He was 74 years old and had managed to advance art in all its disciplines.
