19e-eeuws wierookscheepje, circa 1870-1890. Gedecoreerd op de deksel met een gravering van een wijnrank. Het lepeltje is met een ketting aan de scheepje vervaardigd. Voor kerkelijk gebruik in de katholieke kerk

- goed, enkele gebruikssporen. Verzilvering her en der wat sleets. lepeltje met gebruikssporen aan de bak.(zie foto's)


Een wierookscheepje is een bootvormige houder die soms gedeeltelijk is afgedekt met een klep, waarin wierookkorrels worden gedaan voordat ze in een wierookvat worden geschept.

Vóór de Karolingische periode is er geen sprake van een specifiek vat om wierook te houden. Het wierookscheepje wordt dan voorgesteld in de vorm van een klein rechthoekig doosje dat wordt vastgehouden door een thurifer-clericus of een thurifer-engel. Pas in de 13e eeuw werd de specifieke vorm van de shuttle vastgesteld. De wierookscheepje heeft de vorm van de romp van een boot. Het staat op een korte voet en wordt aan de bovenkant afgesloten door een vaste metalen plaat en een andere plaat die daaraan scharniert (of door een deksel met dubbele klep). De wierooklepel is soms met een ketting aan de pendel bevestigd.
