Fraai robuuste antieke Underwood typmachine, voor decoratie in uitstekende staat (ongeveer 100 jaar oud).
Alles kan wel bewegen, maar of deze nog 100% goed funtioneerd is mij niet bekend.
Wordt geleverd met geprinte handleiding van 20 pagina's en diagram met nummers.
De getypte instructie op het papiertje aan achterzijde heb ik laten zitten, daar dit vermoedelijk orgineel en met deze Underwood getypt is.
De typmachine heeft door de jaren natuurlijk wel gebruikssporen wat ook wel past bij een gebruiksvoorwerp (geen steriele uitstaling meer).

Dit unieke antieke, ongeveer 100 jaar oude item,  is zeer geschikt voor in kantoor, werkruimte, etalage, winkel of voor thuis op tafel of dressoir en voor ieder die een echte blikvanger wilt hebben.
De handleiding en A3 of A4 diagram met nummers zou hierbij ingelijst kunnen worden.

Geschiedenis:
Het Underwood Model 5, geïntroduceerd in 1899, is het resultaat van bijna dertig jaar innovatie en verbeteringen in de typemachineproductie. 
Het bleef dertig jaar lang de alomtegenwoordige kantoormachine en de verkoopcijfers zorgden ervoor dat Underwood de markt domineerde. 
Het Model 5 werd de moderne standaard voor hoe een typemachine werkte en eruitzag.

De Underwood Typewriter Company had zijn hoofdfabriek in Hartford, maar was een bedrijf uit New York, met een hoofdkantoor in een gebouw aan 30 Vesey Street in Manhattan, ook wel bekend als het Underwood Building. 
Underwood begon in 1874 als producent van typlint en carbonpapier, en begon in 1896 met de productie van schrijfmachines en werd bekend als een toonaangevend merk in de twintigste eeuw, met name vanwege hun betrouwbare en innovatieve schrijfmachines. 
Hij moet concurreren met de Remington , die al zes jaar de markt bedient, de Corona 4 (sinds 1924) en de Royal (eveneens uit 1926). 
In 1959 verwierf Olivetti een meerderheidsbelang in Underwood en voltooide de fusie in 1963. 
De naam Underwood bleef nog enige tijd op de machines staan, ook al was het ontwerp van Olivetti.
