Description from the seller
Antique Piano Stool – Germany, circa 1890
Seat dimensions (top): 40 × 40 cm
Height: adjustable from 47 cm to 59 cm
Weight: approx. 9 kg
This antique piano stool was likely produced in Germany around 1890, based on its design and original height-adjustment mechanism. The mechanism is stamped “D.R. Patent No. 45215,” indicating a German Imperial patent (D.R. = Deutsches Reich).
The stool is made primarily of solid oak, with the exception of the bottom panel of the adjustable seat, which is veneered. The top of the adjustable seat is solid oak. The rest of the stool is also made of solid oak.
The wood has developed a beautiful natural patina over time, giving the piece a warm tone and authentic antique character.
Restoration:
No major restoration has been carried out. Only several screws securing the height-adjustment mechanism have been replaced (visible in the photos).
Condition:
There are some water marks on the top of the seat and minor chips to the veneer (visible in the photos). Otherwise, the stool is in very good condition for its age—solid, stable, and fully functional. The height-adjustment mechanism works smoothly.
