Raro centrotavola in argento sterling 925 prodotto nei primissimi anni del 1900 dal celebre argentiere americano Shreve & Co. Di San Francisco. Il centrotavola è finemente decorato a fiori e foglie e traforato con cesello di grande qualità. Sotto ci sotto sia i punzoni del titolo che il marchio dell'argentiere.

Shreve & Company è un affermato rivenditore di gioielli, dagli orologi ai diamanti, con sede a San Francisco , California . Fondata nel 1894 da George Rodman e Albert J. Lewis,  è considerata la più antica attività commerciale di San Francisco.

Il precursore dell'azienda, la Shreve Jewelry Company, fu fondata dal padre e dallo zio di Rodman, George e Samuel Shreve, che si erano trasferiti a San Francisco da New York City . George imparò l'arte orafa dal suo fratellastro maggiore, Benjamin. Quest'ultimo aveva fondato la Shreve, Crump & Low a Boston . 

Negli anni '80 del 1800, la Shreve Jewelry Company era considerata tra i migliori argentieri degli Stati Uniti, vendendo orologi di alta qualità, gioielli in oro e argento, oltre a diamanti e pietre preziose.  Il negozio, che aveva aperto a Montgomery e Clay, si trasferì presto a Market Street. 

Solo un mese prima del terremoto di San Francisco del 1906 , Shreve & Co. aprì il suo nuovo edificio di undici piani all'angolo tra Post e Grant. Costruito con le più recenti tecnologie ingegneristiche dell'epoca, l'edificio Shreve & Co. fu uno dei pochi edifici di San Francisco a sopravvivere al terremoto del 18 aprile. Durante l'incendio, argento e gioielli furono portati di corsa dal personale nella cassaforte ignifuga, dove la maggior parte rimase illesa; tuttavia, sarebbero trascorse tre settimane prima che la cassaforte si raffreddasse abbastanza da poter essere aperta. Con l'edificio reso inutilizzabile, l'azienda aprì un negozio a Oakland, dove rimase per due anni. In questo periodo furono creati i primi prodotti di posate e i cataloghi illustrati dell'azienda.
