Rare Ibedj présentant un personnage féminin debout aux mains et pieds puissants et coiffe à double lobes. Bois à patine rougeâtre, indigo sur la coiffe, perles de traite, anciennes marques usage.

Présenté nu debout sur son piédestal circulaire avec coiffe sommitale. Scarification de 3 cicatrices sur chaque joue, caractéristiques des objets yorouba.

Les Yorouba vivent entre le Nigéria et le Bénin, dans une région couverte de forêt et de savane. Le commerce des esclaves toucha fortement les population Yorouba et il contribua à la dissemination de leurs rites et de leurs croyances. Il y avait 4 fois plus de naissances gémellaires chez les Yorouba que dans le reste du monde.

Ces fétiches représentent des jumeaux défunts, vénérés par des libations et des prières, qui influencent la vie quotidienne des familles.
