A charming Syrian travel account covering Lebanon, Baalbek, Galilee, and Judaea, from Ada Alice Cunnick (later known as A. C. Inchbold), an English writer and traveller. These travels were taken by both her and her husband, Stanley. 

Complete in two volumes. The first edition of this vivid two-volume travelogue through Syria, adorned with colour plates. Illustrated with forty colour plates (twenty to each volume) and eight black-and-white drawings (four to each volume) by Stanley Inchbold. 

Published by Hutchinson & Co., London, 1906. Publisher’s original blue cloth boards, with gilt vignettes and gilt lettering on upper board and spines.

Condition
The books are beautifully bound, designed, and illustrated. Firm, and well bound copies. External covers in nice shape, with light wear to corners and to head and foot of spines. Internally the books in very good condition indeed. Old inscriptions dated 1908 with neat ink on first front free endpaper pages of both volumes. Pages are clean, with light foxing marks on the margin of some pages, and page edges. All pages are tightly held at the gutter. Inner hinges are very good. The coloured plates make this a truly beautiful work (Nice Set) (Please see pictures).
