A very fine old 4/4 violin, labeled "Giovanni Pistucci Napoli 1903". This instrument is in good condition with only one small repaired crack to left f-hole, new ebony set up and new strings. The violin shows a very careful selection of wood in the making. The violin has a high to medium grained spruce of the top and one piece back of softly flamed wood with matched sides and scroll. Rich golden amber varnish shows an amazing wooden choice. Inlaid purfling on top and back. The whole length of the violin is 587 mm and the back 356 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 168 mm; middle bouts: 112 mm; lower bouts: 207 mm. Full size.
