Patrick Faigenbaum, born in Paris in 1954, is one of France's MOST IMPORTANT AND ARTISTICALLY INTERESTING PHOTOGRAPHERS.

Patrick Faigenbaum's love of classical painting also shaped the aesthetics of his photographic images – portraits, landscapes, still lifes and urban spaces in black and white and colour. Patrick Faigenbaum gained international recognition in the late 1980s when he was a fellow at the Villa Medici, the French Academy in Rome, and created his series of portraits of Italian aristocrats in Florence, Rome and Naples. From 1996 to 1998, he was artist in residence at the Weserburg Museum für Moderne Kunst in Bremen. Since 2001, he has been a professor at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. His project Kalkutta/Kolkata was awarded the Henri Cartier-Bresson Award in 2013. The Josef Albers Museum Quadrat in Bottrop presented Patrick Faigenbaum's photographs to the German public in a retrospective in 2021. The exhibition was accompanied by a comprehensive catalogue.
