AN ARABIAN JAMBIYA, BELT AND SCABBARD + 10 OTHER ITEMS. The knife with a 17 cm curved, pointed blade with a pronounced central ridge. On a silver mounted grip with all over wire-work and chased decoration. The 'U' shaped scabbard similarly decorated with six belt mounting points and elaborate original belt with a length of 92 cm. "Made in the area of Mecca during the Ottoman Era 1880's. This form of scabbard has a wide distribution and can be found with various hilts in the Hadramout. The Jambiya worn by T.E. Lawrence is the Meccan type. The manufacture of silver hilts, scabbards and jewellery were produced using Maria Therese Thalers, coins as ingots, the silver content being 833 parts fine silver. There are 10 other silver items, these are, Silver Ring, Silver Scabbard, 5 x Cylindrical Containers of different lengths, a round jewel, a 117cm silver metal chain/belt and a square silver ?match box.
