Cadran solaire équinoxial en laiton The Franklin Mint 1987, avec base en bois

Très belle pièce de collection réalisée par The Franklin Mint en 1987, ce cadran solaire universel dit Equinoctial Ring Dial est une réplique raffinée d’un instrument scientifique historique.

Il est entièrement fabriqué en laiton gravé, décoré de chiffres romains et de motifs floraux élégants. Ce cadran solaire permettait autrefois aux voyageurs et navigateurs de lire l’heure grâce à la position du soleil, en ajustant l’anneau intérieur en fonction de la latitude et de la date.

Ce modèle est monté sur un socle en bois (présent mais abîmé, voir photo), et peut être exposé sur un support ou suspendu grâce à son anneau supérieur.

À noter : le socle en bois présente des éclats et traces d'usure, ce qui n'altère pas la rareté et le charme de cet objet.
