In this unique fusion of Western comics and Edo-period aesthetics, Kōdo88 reimagines Batman as a samurai of shadows — poised, stoic, and noble. Styled after 19th-century Japanese warrior prints, the composition features vertical text blocks, traditional seals, and weathered paper textures, all framing the Dark Knight in his vintage grey-and-blue costume.

The work draws clear inspiration from classical nishiki-e woodblock portraits of legendary fighters, translating Gotham's masked vigilante into a dignified hero of old Japan. This is not just a homage to Batman, but also to the legacy of visual storytelling through print — an artwork where manga lineage meets Western mythos.
