Maternité Shango, culture Yoruba, Nigeria. H.46cm

Superbe et rare maternité Yoruba du Nigeria. Cette œuvre représente Shango, dieu du tonnerre et de la guerre, la hache a double lame surplombant le personnage nous l'indique. Shango fut un roi du royaume Yoruba d'Oyo, connu pour ses combats et ses victoires, il fut élevé au rang de dieu à sa mort.

La sculpture est parfaitement maitrisée, c'est l'œuvre d'un artiste aguerri, il y a mit tout son savoir faire. Le visage est doux, puissant et serein. La position du corps affirme la force du personnage. L'enfant dans son dos est bien patiné, il fut frotté de multiples fois. La patine est plus épaisse sur l'avant du personnage. L'ensemble dégage beaucoup de force, c'est un objet puissant. Une très belle pièce de collection ancienne, rare et authentique. Circa 1920.
Cette oeuvre a été expertisé, daté et validé par la maison MILLON, expert Serges Reynes.
