Ce type de masque est utilisé par les membres de la société secrète masculine le Kidumu lors des funérailles de notables du village ou lors des mariages et autres cérémonies importantes. Ils servent aussi à réguler la structure sociale et politique du groupe initiatique. Ils servent de plus en plus souvent aux fêtes de réjouissance. Ce masque est un masque planche : le porteur du masque tenait celui-ci entre ses dents à l'aide d'un ruban tressé. Les perforations servaient à attacher des plumes et des fibres qui venaient parfaire l'harmonie du costume. Les masque Téké sont toujours construits de la même façon: ils sont circulaires, divisés horizontalement par une bande et leur surface est décorée de motifs géométriques peints à l'aide de pigments blanc, rouge, noir ou ocre.
