Carmen Íñiguez Berbeira

Paul Breyer is a Belgian painter (1905  Arlon - 1968 Tignet (Alpes Maritimes). 
He draws very early, but it is towards medicine that at 19 years old he will move. But his true vocation is artistic and he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. In 1931, he married Madeleine Deltenre, a painter and poet, and settled in Arlon. At first, he is a painter from the Ardennes. His art is directly inspired by his love for the land, the terroir, the vigorous work of peasants and artisans. He teaches painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arlon, notably to Paul Schrobiltgen, Paul Antoine, and Roger Greisch. In 1949 he settles in Cagnes-sur-Mer then at the Tignet de Grasse. Under the Provençal sun, his palette brightens, but remains attached to those themes that he deals with: working the land, man, landscapes. He will exhibit notably in Paris, in Brussels...
He was a friend of my grandfather. His work belongs to my family since he painted them.
