Ryu U Se Ki is a collection of works by Nobuyoshi Araki, one of Japan's leading photographers. Rat Hole Gallery, an art gallery run by Hysteric Glamour, has published numerous high-quality collections of Araki's works and held exhibitions since its opening in 2008. However, the connection between the two began even before Rat Hole was established, and this book was published in 1997 under the name “Hysteric Glamour.” It was compiled as the final volume in the large-format series, alongside Moriyama Daido's “Osaka.” The content consists entirely of monochrome snapshots and landscapes, with no nudity, bondage, or married women—elements typically scattered throughout Araki's work. Instead, it features sparse snapshots, car and train scenes, and spiderweb-like illustrations reminiscent of Kanemura Osamu, all presented in a calm and steady manner. While it may leave Araki fans feeling somewhat unsatisfied, it also offers a glimpse into the photographer's undeniable technical skill.
