This is the fourth issue of Chihei, a photography coterie magazine that has been published for five years since 1972, up to its tenth issue. What is the act of taking a picture? In the 1970s, inspired by “Provoke,” photographers repeatedly asked themselves “What is photography? Among these, “Horizon” boasted a high reputation for its outstanding quality, thanks to the efforts of its members and its five-year continuity. The core members were Shunji Hyodo and Koichi Kuronuma, both of whom were teachers at the Osaka College of Photography (Visual Arts College, Osaka). In addition to them, this issue includes Masahito Endo, Makoto Kawamoto, Masashi Segawa, Masahide Takamatsu, Takashi Nakagawa, Hiroshi Nomura, Yoshihiro Yuguchi, and Juzo Hanashiro.
