Orthodox Icon Christ Holy Face Wood Glass – Athos Panteleimon

Chromolithograph on paper laid on wood panel; stamped brass trim and corner ornaments under glass; protective glass; wooden kiot frame with marquetry inlays; sides covered in brick-red cloth.
Design: “Holy Face / Mandylion” (Спас Нерукотворный). Cross-nimbus with Greek letters ὁ ὢν; “IC-XC” in the corners. Removable icon panel protected by glass inside a hinged kiot.

Pieces: 1 framed icon (panel removable).

Color: Halo saturated golden-yellow with orange segment lines; background pale sea-green; flesh natural beige tones; hair and beard dark chestnut brown; cloth white with blue-grey shading; metal trim brass-gold with light verdigris; kiot in honey, amber, reddish-brown and black woods; side cloth brick-red.
Hallmarks / Maker: Printed Cyrillic label on back reads “Blessing from the Holy Mount Athos, Russian St Panteleimon Monastery. Consecrated icon.” No maker’s signature.

Good antique condition with age-related wear. Minor foxing and specks under glass, small losses and oxidation to metal trim, abrasions and losses to side cloth, small nicks to frame edges, light scratches to glass. Structurally sound. See photos.
