One of Ihei Kimura's most popular and highly regarded photobooks, with the end of World War II still relatively recent, traveling from Japan to Europe was no easy task. Paris in those years was considered the world capital of the arts, a city any artist dreamed of visiting. Ihei Kimura achieved this goal and arrived in Paris in 1954 with a Leica camera and several rolls of Japanese color film. During Kimura's time in Paris, he met other local photographers such as Robert Doisneau and Henri-Cartier Bresson, but he also captured the daily pulse of a city that was slowly but steadily returning to normal. Kimura's photographs of Paris have an unparalleled chromatic range of colors that give them an almost painterly quality.
