Les Kotoko, héritiers d’une tradition sahélienne liée aux royaumes du bassin du lac Tchad, sont surtout connus pour leurs petites figurines en bronze, laiton ou cuivre réalisées selon la technique de la cire perdue. Recouverte de matières magiques et protectrices ligaturés de cuir, veritables talisemans jouant de simplification géométrique des formes, aspect archaïsant et volontairement schématique. 
Un cavalier Kotoko condense dans sa petite taille une force symbolique majeure : le pouvoir militaire et spirituel d’un peuple de cavaliers, traduit dans une esthétique minimaliste mais puissante. Chaque pièce est unique.
