Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van Banneux in gips – België – midden 20e eeuw

Beeld van Maria in biddende houding, bekend als de Maagd der Armen van Banneux. Maria verscheen in 1933 acht keer aan een twaalfjarig meisje in haar tuin, waarbij zij zich de Maagd der Armen noemde. Nog datzelfde jaar werd op de plaats van de verschijningen een kapel opgericht, en vanaf 1948 een basiliek. In 1952 erkende het Vaticaan het bovennatuurlijk karakter van de gebeurtenissen. Vandaag is Banneux een belangrijk Maria-bedevaartsoord dat jaarlijks circa 700.000 pelgrims ontvangt. In 1985 werd het bezocht door Paus Johannes Paulus II.

Het beeld meet 44 cm hoog en verkeert in gebruikte staat met duidelijke sporen van ouderdom en gebruik.
