2019 La Poderina - Brunello di Montalcino DOCG - 2 Magnums (1.5L)

Brunello di Montalcino “La Poderina” is a pure expression of Sangiovese Grosso crafted at Fattoria del Cerro in the province of Siena. The estate’s 20 hectares of vineyards lie southeast of Montalcino at about 350 meters above sea level, where clay and schist soils and a relatively high planting density force the vines to work hard, yielding small quantities of intensely flavored grapes. After a careful hand harvest and strict grape selection, fermentation lasts around six weeks in stainless steel. About 60 percent of the wine matures in large Slavonian oak casks and the remaining 40 percent in French barriques for the first year, followed by another year in large casks and an additional eighteen months of bottle aging before release. This meticulous approach, overseen by renowned winemaker Riccardo Cotarella, gives the wine both structure and finesse. In the glass it shows a deep ruby hue with garnet highlights. The bouquet is intense and elegant, offering aromas of black cherry, wild berries, and a subtle touch of vanilla. On the palate it is firm and youthfully tannic, gradually softening into a beautifully balanced, harmonious wine. La Poderina pairs superbly with hearty dishes such as grilled red meats, roasts, game, and well-aged cheeses, standing as a distinguished ambassador of Tuscan winemaking tradition.
