Splendid Full Set of Samurai Armor with Gilded Kikkō-Hanabishi Maedate - Japan - Shōwa period (1926-1989)

Item Description: This is a splendid full set of Japanese samurai armor (yoroi), crafted during the Shōwa period in a traditional Edo-style ceremonial design. The armor stands approximately 150 cm tall including the maedate, and was made with meticulous attention to period aesthetics, symbolizing both elegance and warrior spirit. The kabuto (helmet) is a jūkken suji-boshi kabuto, formed with ten iron plates and adorned with raised rivets (hoshi), representing durability and classic samurai styling. The highlight is the impressive gilded maedate, shaped with a kikkō-hanabishi (hexagon and flower crest) design—a symbol of prosperity, harmony, and noble origin. The kuwagata (horns) are painted in gold and attached to an elaborate kuwagata-dai with intricate openwork floral motifs. The black lacquered menpō (face guard) is lifelike, fitted with a bristled mustache, adding an expressive presence. The cuirass (dō) and matching tassets (kusazuri) are constructed from lacquered iron lamellae, laced with multicolored silk cords in ivory, tan, black, and rust-red tones. The under-armor fabric is an ornate purple brocade with golden floral designs, enhancing the armor’s visual richness. Of particular note are the included kegutsu (fur-covered shoes), traditionally styled with animal hair and decorative trim, completing the formal appearance of a high-ranking warrior. Gold tassels, detailed embroidery, and coordinated materials throughout the suit speak to its ceremonial role rather than battlefield function. Though created in the Shōwa era, this armor faithfully captures the visual and structural essence of samurai gear from the Edo period. Light signs of aging and use are present, but the overall condition remains excellent and display-worthy. Note: Yoroi-kake (armor stand) is not included. Size: Height: 150 cm (including maedate) NOITICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility.
