Frederick Carlton (Carl) Lewis (Birmingham (Alabama), 1 juli 1961) is een Amerikaans oud-atleet, die in zijn carrière tien olympische medailles, waarvan negen gouden, en op de wereldkampioenschappen atletiek tien medailles won, waarvan acht gouden. De regelmatig onderbroken carrière van Lewis duurde van 1979 tot 1996, toen hij zijn negende olympische titel veroverde.

Lewis was een sprinter en verspringer, die vanaf 1980 tot begin jaren negentig regelmatig nummer één stond op de wereldranglijst op de onderdelen 100 m en 200 m sprint en het verspringen. Hij verbeterde de wereldrecords op de 100 m, 4 x 100 m estafette en 4 x 200 m estafette. In 1982, 1983 en 1984 werd hij door Track & Field News, een Amerikaans atletiekblad, gekozen tot atleet van het jaar. Zijn in tien jaar neergezette reeks van 65 opeenvolgende overwinningen in het verspringen is een van de opmerkelijkste prestaties ooit neergezet in de atletiek.
Voor zijn prestaties werd hij onder meer door het IOC gekozen tot Sportman van de Eeuw en door het Amerikaanse sportblad Sports Illustrated tot Olympiër van de Eeuw. Lewis speelde een belangrijke rol in de professionalisering van de atletieksport en stelde zo atleten in staat lucratievere en langere carrières te hebben.
