Im Zentrum des Designs Villeroy und Boch Phoenix steht der gleichnamige Vogel, der in der Mythologie als Sinnbild für Unsterblichkeit gilt. Nach antikem Mythos verbrennt und stirbt dieser Feuervogel am Abend, um in der Morgenröte „wie Phoenix aus der Asche“ wiederaufzuerstehen. Im Christentum symbolisiert der Phoenix die Auferstehung. In puncto Farben wird der mythische Vogel mit Gold und Feuerrot in Verbindung gebracht, auch von einem azurblauen Schwanz ist die Rede. Auf dem Phoenix Geschirr von Villeroy & Boch präsentiert sich der Feuervogel stolz mit einem Federkleid in Königsblau und Sonnengelb. Erhaben sitzt er auf einem dunkelgrünen Ast. Ringsum verzweigen sich die Stängel von blauen Blumen, die sich teilweise bereits in voller Blütenpracht zeigen und teilweise noch in zarten Knospen verbergen.

Geschichte der Firma Villeroy & Boch:
Die Villeroy & Boch AG, kurz V&B (auch „VB“), ist ein deutscher Hersteller von Keramik­waren, dessen Ursprung im Jahr 1748 liegt. Das Unternehmen ist nach seinen beiden Gründern François Boch und Nicolas Villeroy benannt und befindet sich nach über 275 Jahren immer noch größtenteils im Besitz der Familien von Boch-Galhau (Hauptaktionäre) und Villeroy de Galhau. Der Hauptsitz von Villeroy & Boch befindet sich in der Alten Abtei in Mettlach im Saarland, einem Klostergebäude, das während der Französischen Revolution aufgegeben wurde. Daneben gibt es 13 Produktionsstätten in Europa und Asien. Die Produkte werden in rund 125 Ländern vertrieben.
