This is a rare vintage Japanese tabletop weaving tool set (卓上織器), produced by Kiriyama (桐山), Tokyo/Osaka. A compact and practical weaving apparatus, these small looms were designed for handcraft enthusiasts and students to practice traditional weaving techniques at home.
The set includes:
- Wooden loom with clamp for table fixation.
- Shuttle with original thread.
- Metal weaving hook.
- Adjustable weaving arm with pen-holder-like attachment for thread handling.
- Original storage box with traditional Japanese patterned paper cover.
- Handwritten Japanese inscription/poem on old paper, signed 佐々木信綱 (Sasaki Nobutsuna, 1872–1963, noted Japanese poet and scholar), which makes this piece especially interesting from a cultural perspective.
