Frank T. Morris: Pencil Drawings 1969-1978 (Landsdowne limited edition 1978)

Scotland-born Frank Morris (Scotland 1936-Australia 2021) moved to Australia at the age of 7. Soon het developed a keen eye for birds and their nest in his new homeland and he also felt very comfortable in putting his sitings on paper in ink and paint.. 
Between 1973 and 1979 Morris provided text and illustrations for a series of  7 books on Australian ornithology. 
These books were:
1. Birds of Prey of Australia (1973)
2. Pigeons and Doves of Australia (1976)
3. Impressions of Waterfowl in Australia (1977)
4. Pencil Drawings 1969-1978 (1978)
5. Birds of the Australian Swamps I (1978)
6. Robins and Wrens of Australia-a selection (1979)
7. Birds of the Australian Swamps II (1981)
All these books were limited to 500 copies and bound in full-leather on heavy paper

Here offered is part 4 of the Series: Pencil Drawings 1969-1978
The 100 full page sketches and studies (all in b/w) give an insight in the way of working of this great master in this period of his artistical career.
The massive book (35x56 cm, full leather binding and gold lettering) is in very good condition. The leather boards only have some minor imperfections. The text block is immaculate.
The book appeared in a limited edition of 500 copies of which only 100 where signed and numbered by the artist and came with an artist original. The offered  book belongs to the 350 unsigned and unnumbered copies
