Statut - fer forgé - chamba - Nigeria 

Les statues Chamba sont rares et leur utilisation reste méconnue.

Souvent couverte d'une épaisse patine, elles servent à rentrer en communication avec les esprits.

Leur forme reprend certaints traits des statuettes Mumuyé, proches voisins.

Ces statues, parfois de plus grande taille, étaient semble-t-il liées au culte des ancêtres et de la "première mère", ainsi qu’à des rituels de guérison des maux de l’esprit. Toutefois, ce type de sculpture reste rare chez les Chamba et leur fonction initiale reste quasi incertaine. Néanmoins, on ne pourra pas rester insensible aux qualités du travail de statuaire Chamba, nous figurant de complexes et étonnantes harmonies d’angles, de courbes et de volumes.
