PARADISE LOST - (Paraíso Perdido) — Spanish translation by Escoiquiz, Madrid 1844 
2 volumes (of 4), disbound

Early Spanish verse translation of Milton’s Paradise Lost, rendered by D. J. de Escoiquiz and printed in Madrid in 1844. The edition is notable for its engraved frontispieces and decorative elements, and the paper quality remains very good, fresh and well-preserved overall, making the volumes pleasant to handle despite the absence of hard covers and original sewing. Offered here are two volumes of the original four, both disbound.

Condition: Fair. Disbound, without covers or sewing; gatherings loose; with foxing and edge wear. The paper itself is in good condition, solid and clean for its age. Incomplete set (2 of 4 volumes).

Additional note: A few pages show minor traces of humidity and foxing, consistent with the age of the volumes but not affecting legibility. The original blue printed paper covers (title leaves for Vols. I and II) are preserved separately and will be delivered together with the books. These fragile sheets are typical of the publisher’s 1844 issue and add bibliographic interest.
