About the artist:
Elise Eekhout is a visual artist whose work combines painting and language in a subtle, layered dialogue. Inspired by literature, memory and landscape, she creates works in which text and image exist side by side – sometimes clearly visible, sometimes barely perceptible. Letters function both as meaning and as form and dissolve as soon as they are read.

With acrylic paint, screen printing and materials such as (onedel) gold and silver leaf, Eekhout builds surfaces that respond to light and movement. As the viewer's position changes, words appear or disappear and landscapes shift between presence and abstraction. Each work reveals itself slowly over time.
