WWI Trench Art Vase – French 75 mm Artillery Shell Casing (dated 1917) – Repoussé floral & ivy design – Brass Description A First World War trench-art vase made from an original French 75 mm brass artillery shell casing (for the Canon de 75 Modèle 1897). The case has been hand-worked in repoussé with an attractive floral/ivy motif and a fine stipple-punched background. Period decorative work, intended for use as a vase. Headstamp/markings (see photos): “75 DEC”, “C. 1141 L. 17” with small inspector/proof marks (“S”, “W” etc.). Year 1917 present in the headstamp. Central primer has been drilled through – completely inert. A good, honest example with clear markings and pleasing patina.
