Ancient Egyptian Faience Amulet of Bès Late Period – Ptolemaic, ca. 600–300 BC A turquoise-blue faience amulet depicting the protective household deity Bès, shown in his characteristic squat form with pronounced body and limbs. Protector of the home, childbirth, music, and joy, he was invoked to guard against evil and misfortune. Amulets of Bès were worn by both adults and children, serving as powerful charms of protection and fertility. Material: Faience Dimensions: approx. 3.1 cm Weight: approx. 5.8 g Condition: Worn with some surface weathering and small losses consistent with age. Attractive patina of antiquity. Provenance: Private European collection, acquired in the 1990s. A fine and expressive example of a protective amulet from the Late Period to Ptolemaic Egypt.
