Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite)
History: Salek Mrabih (Dominions Meteors) and Arbi Ababuzaid purchased many samples from a merchant in Mauritania in 2023.
Physical characteristics: The exterior of the sample is crystalline and partially coated with an orange layer of caliche. The cut face shows the interior has a brecciated texture.
Petrography: Description and classification (A. Love, App) Sample is a breccia composed of coarse grained cumulate basaltic clasts and some basaltic lithic debris set within a quenched subophitic melt matrix. Plagioclase shows twinning but has been partially converted to glass. Cumulate pyroxene has been transformed into a mosaic of finer polycrystalline aggregates. Lithic pyroxenes show weak zonation. Additional minerals are: secondary calcite, minor troilite, chromite and ilmenite.
Geochemistry: (A. Love, App) pigeonite (Fs43.9±5.4Wo10.0±3.5, Mg#=51.0±7.6 (35.5-65.6), Fe/Mn=29.9±1.8 n=17); plagioclase (An91.2±3.1Or0.3±0.2, n=6).
Classification: HED achondrite (eucrite melt breccia M-S4 W2) Based on brecciated and quenched textures within matrix and mineral chemistry, sample is cumulate eucrite melt breccia.
Specimens: Salek Mrabih (Dominions Meteors) and Arbi Ababuzaid hold the main masses. A polished thin section and a sliced chunk and several fragments weighing 45.59 g are on deposit at App.
