In this lot we are auctioning an amazing etched part slice of Aletai meteorite: Weight: 410 g Size approximately at most: 80 x 68 x 20 mm thickness Small plastic stand included Nice etched preparation Stabilized, cut, polished and etched : no resin, no wax or varnish applied. face and sides etched revealing Widmanstatten patterns showing taenite and kamacite irons bands upper edge is the raw exterior of the meteorite corresponds to the crust . My certificate GMA #G0058, tracking number and insurance included I have been private meteorite collector since 2010 and general member G0058 of the GMA (Global meteorite association) since 2021. Rare meteorite classification, this is 1 of 2 approved meteorites classified as Iron IIIE anomalous. First found 1898 in Xinijang with total known weight (TKW ) + 50t Aletai is an anomalous IIIE : It has the highest Au concentration (1.810-1.894 µg/g) in the group, and its Ir concentration (0.228-0.235 µg/g) is much higher than that inferred through the trend of the other group members. Chemical and petrographic analyses of multiple iron meteorite masses found in the northern part of Xinjiang, indicate pairing of these masses with the Aramanty (IIIE) iron. All of these iron meteorites carry now the official name “Aletai”, from the name of the prefecture. The other names are now abolished and become synonyms for Aletai.
