Authentieke Franse brandweerhelm (casque de sapeur-pompier) uit de late 19e eeuw, uitgevoerd in koper met rijk gedetailleerde ornamenten.
De helm is ontworpen in kurasierstijl, naar militair voorbeeld, en werd gedragen door leden van het Franse brandweerkorps (Sapeurs-Pompiers) tijdens de periode van het Tweede Keizerrijk en de vroege Derde Republiek.

De voorzijde toont een gegoten frontplaat met vlammen en lauwerkrans, waarin de tekst “Sapeurs Pompiers” is verwerkt. De rand is rondom versierd met een gegraveerd schubmotief, symbool voor bescherming en water.
De binnenzijde bevat nog de originele leren voering, wat zeldzaam is bij helmen van deze leeftijd.

Deze helmen werden destijds gedragen bij ceremoniële parades en officiële functies en zijn tegenwoordig zeer gewild bij verzamelaars van antieke brandweerobjecten en militaria.

In mooie gebruikte staat.
