Beautiful and elegant pair of French Art Deco bookends, dating from the 1920s or 1930s.

Each bookend features a highly stylised pheasant. The birds are mirrored, facing each other in a classic Art Deco opposing pose, creating a striking symmetrical display. The design exhibits the characteristic streamlining and dynamic forms of the Art Deco period.

The bird figures are made of bronze patinated spelter. They are mounted on marble bases.
