A Damen Bauhaus Art Deco silver pendant by Albert Holbein (ca. 1928–34), weighing 11.79 g and measuring 4.3 cm by 2.8 cm, set with a topaz-spinel, stamped 900 inside with master mark H, on a 43 cm chain, originating from Germany and in excellent condition.

Unique find!
From the renowned silversmith Albert Holbein, a large, handsome silver Art Deco pendant with beads and set with a sparkling Topaz–Spinel (Tested).
The pendant was made by him circa 1928–1934 of the previous century (Bauhaus Era).
Dimensions: 5 cm long x 2 cm wide.
The pendant is stamped on the inside with silver fineness 900 and the Master Mark H., the hallmark of Albert Holbein, and "handgetrieben" means handmade.
Hanger size: 4.3 cm L (incl. eyelet) x 2.8 cm W.
Topaz dimensions: 1.5 cm L x 1.2 cm W x approx. 0.9 H.
Anchor chain, link chain, length: 43 cm.
Silver standard: 835.

Albert Holbein (1869-1934) Engraver and goldsmith. Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany.
Albert trained at the Gebr. Deyhle silverware factory and at various Berlin companies.
Until 1904 he worked with Prof. Kowarzki, then from 1910 to 1920 with George Binhardt for the Werkstätte für Kunst in Schwäbisch Gmünd.
Thereafter he worked in his own studio until his death.

Bauhaus ideas and designs were quickly adopted by silversmiths in the region starting around 1928.
Convincing modernist jewelry in the style of the 'Nieuwe Objectiviteit' emerged, showcasing a complete departure from classical jewelry and produced until the end of the 1940s.
The jewelry was characterized by geometric shapes such as balls, cones, squares, loops, and spirals. A beautiful example is this pendant from that period!
