Omschrijving

Prachtige Belgische Art Deco vaas, model “Luxor”, vervaardigd door Verreries de Scailmont (ca. 1935).

Kenmerken:

Hoogte: 24 cm

Diameter: 15 cm

Gewicht: 1.482 g

Kleur: blauw (typisch voor de Luxor-serie)

Signering: onderaan gemerkt met “Fait en Belgique”

Stijlperiode: Art Deco, jaren ’30

De Luxor-serie is een schoolvoorbeeld van Belgisch Art Deco-ontwerp en staat bekend om de strakke lijnen en geometrische vormen. De signering onderstreept de authenticiteit van dit stuk.

De Scailmont-fabriek werd in 1901 opgericht door H.R. Hirsch in Manage.
Henri Heemskerk werkte van 1924 tot 1951 bij Scailmont en maakte veel ontwerpen voor gevormde en gesatineerde vazen met art nouveau- en art deco-decoraties. Het succes van Charles Catteau na de Parijse Expositie van 1925 leidde tot een toenemende populariteit van hun producten en S.A. Verreries de Scailmont had op het hoogtepunt in 1930 800 mensen in dienst.
