A pair of Chinese carved cinnabar lacquer baluster vases - Porcelain - China - Qing dynasty (大清), 19th c.
A pair of Chinese carved red cinnabar lacquer baluster vases. China, late Qing (清朝) dynasty, mid to late 19th century.
Each of quatrefoil section, carved around the body with four rectangular cartouches each containing figures in the mountain landscape. Each cartouche shows different scene, on various geometrical patterns in lower part, to include: swastikas, square spirals and others. The neck and lower section with four further cartouches containing lotus scrolls. Bases covered with brown glossy varnish, interior of mouth under dark brown varnish.

Dimensions: height - 25,8 / 26 cm, depth/width - from 10,0 to 10,3 cm. Weight – 657 / 653 g.
Provenance: private collection, Belgium.
References: similar, but bigger, pair of vases sold by Christie's, Nov 10th 2005 (print-screen included).
Conditions vases preserved in good condition considering the age and very fragile material. Some looses (mostly to the base, in lower corners and one in top corner. Few small pieces possible glued. Check pictures for details.
