1989 Veuve Clicquot, La Grande Dame - Champagne Brut - 1 Bottle (0.75L)

"Exceptional CHAMPAGNE VEUVE CLICQUOT PONSARDIN La Grande Dame - 1989 Prestige box 1989 - 75 cl - 12.5 ° - Parker score 95/100 Label intact, capsule and very good level" About the Domain Nicole Barbe Ponsardin, born in 1777, married François Clicquot in 1798. Widowed at just 27, she took over her late husband's business. Despite a war-torn Europe, she managed to ship her wines around the world. Innovative and bold, she introduced her champagne to the royal courts of Europe. Concerned about quality, she inspected her cellars at night to ensure the optimal maturation of her cuvées. She is credited with the creation of rosé champagne and vintage champagne, as well as the development of riddling racks to clarify sparkling wines. She also acquired plots in the finest vineyards and fought against counterfeiting. Madame Veuve Clicquot passed away in 1866 at the age of 89. Created in homage to Madame Clicquot, the cuvée La Grande Dame embodies the quest for excellence through a rigorous selection of grapes, specific vinification, a complex blend of eight Grands Crus, and aging for at least six years to reach maturity. The House is also committed to protecting its vines and the environment by reducing the use of pesticides. About the Cuvée The iconic cuvée of the Veuve Clicquot House can combine up to five major terroirs of Pinot Noir (Verzy, Verzenay, Bouzy, Ambonnay, and Aÿ) and three for Chardonnay (Mesnil sur Oger, Oger, and Avize), depending on the vintage. The Grands Crus and historical terroirs are honored here. Predominantly composed of Pinot Noir, as the Widow herself stated: "our black grapes produce the finest white wines," this cuvée includes a small proportion of Chardonnay. Always vintage and produced only in exceptional years, La Grande Dame marries the power and richness of Pinot Noir with the elegance of Chardonnay. Its appearance presents a beautiful golden hue with green reflections, while the effervescence is fine and delicate. The nose, showing great finesse, reveals floral and fruity aromas (white flowers, citrus, white fruits). On the palate, one experiences a pleasant richness and roundness, with a finish that reveals all the nobility of this exceptional cuvée. It is a gastronomic champagne that will grace the finest tables.
