Mathilde Oscar est née à Paris en 1980, elle vit et travaille à Cannes. Passionnée par la peinture qu'elle pratiqua en premier lieu, elle étudie l'histoire de l'Art. Quand elle découvre la photographie, c'est pour transposer ses idées picturales fortement inspirées par les grands maitres de la peinture, le romantisme et néo-classicisme.  La fabrication des décors, costumes et accessoires vient souvent se rajouter à son processus créatif, mais parfois digitalement.
Elle développe ainsi un art visuel unique mêlant les codes de la peinture classique à la photographie et la manipulation numérique. Bien souvent anachroniques et décalées, ses portraits semblent perdues dans un espace temps inconnu, aux multiples références à l’histoire de l’Art.
