2014 Roagna Crichet Paje - Piedmont DOCG - 1 Bottle (0.75L)

Barbaresco Crichet Pajé Roagna represents the maximum expression of the wines of this cellar. This wine was born from the research of Giovanni Roagna who had bought the vineyard in 1953 and after years of experimentation managed to select this unique terroir with an optimal position for the cultivation of Nebbiolo, which loves to be well exposed and sheltered from the winds of the most high. Barbaresco Crichet Pajé Roagna comes from a micro-particle within the Pajé vineyard particularly rich in white calcareous marl and is the vineyard with the highest active limestone content: it is an area of just over half a hectare with unique soil and microclimate. The Pajé opens onto the Tanaro river valley, which mitigates the cold winters and above all the hot summers. The youngest plants used for this wine are over 60 years old and the balance of the plant is not modified with thinning as the old plants have reached an optimal productive balance; some vines can produce a single bunch or in some years not even produce. Wine of absolute value in its complexity and longevity. The vineyard is harvested in October, usually in the morning, when it is perfectly ripe. The grapes are harvested manually and placed in small boxes. Before being vinified, the grapes undergo two manual selections to check their perfect integrity. Fermentation takes place exclusively in wooden vats. Submerged cap maceration is then applied, which lasts about 80-90 days. Finally the Barbaresco Crichet Pajé ages in a neutral oak barrel for about 10 years. The production of bottles is very limited. In some vintages less than 1000, up to a maximum of just over 2000. Barbaresco Crichet Pajé was the personal reserve of the Roagna family, used for the most important events. In 1978 Alfredo Roagna decided to make Crichet Pajé known to the world. This is therefore the first vintage traceable on the market. A special bottle to be reserved for equally special occasions.
