A fine 19th-century printing of the John Wycliffe translation of the New Testament, with each page of text enclosed by a border reproduced from a Kerver Book of Hours. This fine work is printed on handmade paper in Holland with a decorative vellum binding. Wycliffe s New Testament is paired with a preface by Arthur Penrhyn Stanley. A rare and truly beautiful tome! Vellum typically soiled, a litle discolouration to end-papers. Clasp in good condition, only one present. Stains on boards. Inside pages toned on margins but overall clean and complete. Pages not trimmed so some with little wear on margins. Beautiful victorian facsimile. About first 30 pages have light tear on upper margin near inner joint repaired with blank tape. Ex library copy with only signs: sticker on front pastedown, stamps on title page and last page, numbers on a page at beginning-see photos. Extremely SCARCE.
