Seiko’s Lord Matic series is a paragon of 1970s design and mechanical innovation, and this Gradient Green Sunburst 5606-7231 is a spectacular example seldom seen on the market, especially in such near-NOS condition. Its vibrant green dial shifts beautifully in the light, featuring an original and bold sunburst effect offset by crisp applied indices and a matching handset. Topped with a sharp and unpolished case, this is an opportunity to acquire a standout piece of Seiko's golden era with immense collector appeal.

Dial and Hands
The original green gradient dial is a true highlight, presenting a dramatic sunburst effect that transitions from forest green at the center to almost black at the edges. The dial is punctuated by square, faceted applied indices, which retain their crisp edges and original lume plots. The silver-tone hands are sharp with minimal signs of age, complemented by a matching central seconds hand. Both the Seiko and LM logos are intact and beautifully preserved.

Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case measures 36mm across and features spotless, unpolished surfaces with sharp edges and deep brushing down the flanks. The case retains its original lines, showing virtually no wear. The acrylic crystal is clear, presenting only the faintest signs of handling.

Movement
Powered by the Seiko in-house automatic 5606A caliber, this watch offers both day and date complication, shown in crisp framed windows at three o’clock. The movement is currently running and keeping time within vintage tolerances, with a timegrapher reading of approximately +40-60 seconds per day.

Strap
Fitted to a robust Seiko stainless steel bracelet, the watch accommodates wrists up to 18cm. The bracelet is near mint, consistent with the superb condition of the case.

Condition
Nearly new old stock condition. The dial, hands, case, and bracelet all present as close to factory original as possible, with no signs of polishing, deep scratches, or dings. Light shelf wear may be present. The movement is running and keeping time within the stated range.

Dimensions
Case diameter: 36mm (excluding the crown)
Lug-to-lug: Approx. 41mm
Bracelet length: Fits up to 18cm wrist

Remarks
A rarely seen Seiko LM 5606-7231 featuring a vibrant sunburst green dial, original case lines, and full-length bracelet. The overall preservation is exceptional, making this Lord Matic an outstanding addition for collectors seeking sharp, characterful 1970s Seiko pieces.

History
Introduced in the late 1960s and produced into the 1970s, the Seiko Lord Matic line represented Seiko’s mid-tier dress watch offering, combining innovative in-house automatic movements with bold period styling. The gradient dials are highly coveted among collectors, and the 5606 series movements are renowned for their robustness and clever engineering, marking a golden age for the brand’s mechanical design.
