Descripción

Icono ortodoxo ruso de formato rectangular dividido en tres registros horizontales, pintado al temple sobre tabla recubierta de levkas.

En la parte superior, se representan figuras sagradas principales: a la izquierda la Virgen de Kazán con el Niño, en el centro una escena de la Deesis (Cristo entronizado flanqueado por la Virgen y San Juan Bautista) y, a la derecha, San Nicolás el Taumaturgo, patrón de Rusia.

En el registro central, aparecen seis santos de cuerpo entero, con aureolas doradas, posiblemente monjes y mártires venerados localmente (San Sergio de Rádonezh, San Teodosio, San Varlaam, entre otros).

En la franja inferior, se distinguen tres figuras adicionales, una de ellas un santo guerrero a caballo (probablemente San Jorge o San Demetrio), y dos santos de pie con atributos propios de ascetas o mártires.

El fondo ocre-dorado y el borde verde y rojo son característicos de los iconos rusos de escuela provincial del siglo XIX, elaborados para el ámbito doméstico o pequeñas capillas. La composición refleja la estructura teológica jerárquica de los iconos de varias hileras: Cristo y los santos intercesores en la parte superior, los santos protectores y patronos en la inferior.
