Icono ruso de la Deesis – Cristo entronizado entre la Virgen y San Juan Bautista – Temple sobre tabla – Siglo XIX

Icono ortodoxo ruso pintado al temple sobre tabla con kowcheg (rebaje central), representando la escena de la Deesis, donde Cristo Pantocrátor aparece entronizado en el centro, sosteniendo el Evangelio abierto con inscripción en eslavo eclesiástico. A su derecha se sitúa la Virgen María en actitud orante, y a su izquierda San Juan Bautista, ambos intercediendo por la humanidad.

En la parte superior y en los márgenes laterales se representan santos intercesores y jerarcas, formando un conjunto de plegaria celestial. El fondo, trabajado en tonos dorados y ocres, presenta decoración incisa imitando el damasquinado, característica de los talleres rusos del siglo XIX.

El reverso conserva su pátina original oscura, con huellas de antigua fijación y ligeras galerías de xilófagos ya estabilizados, indicativos de su antigüedad auténtica.

Origen: Rusia, siglo XIX.
Técnica: Temple al huevo sobre tabla con kowcheg.
Dimensiones: (aprox. 30 × 25 × 2 cm, si coincide con tus medidas reales).
Estado: Conservación buena, con craquelado estable, pequeñas pérdidas de policromía y leve desgaste en los bordes, sin restauraciones visibles.

El tema de la Deesis (del griego “intercesión”) es uno de los motivos centrales de la iconografía bizantina, simbolizando la súplica de la Virgen y San Juan ante Cristo Juez. Este ejemplar, de escuela provincial rusa, mantiene la estructura clásica de tres registros y la intensidad espiritual característica del arte devocional del siglo XIX.
