A beautiful first edition of "The Outline of History" by H. G. Wells (British, 1866 - 1946). 

First edition, published in 1920 by George Newnes Limited in London. Not dated. 

Rare as a one volume comprising the set of two volumes - it first appeared as an illustrated version of 24 installments beginning during the later part of 1919 and first part of 1920 and, when first published as a single book, in 1920, it was usually published in a set of two volumes.

Illustrated overall with 47 tipped-in colour plates and numerous black and white illustrations and maps.  

Hardback. Green cloth-covered boards, with green leatherette spine and corners. Gilt lettering and panelling on the spine. Stained on the spine and slightly stained on the covers. Some wear to covers such as rubbing and scuffs (please see detailed pictures) that does not affect at all the overall aesthetics. Overall a good example. 

Pages in good to very good condition overall. Small handwritten marking in pencil on the upper right corner of the front endpaper. 

780 pages. Its dimensions are - height: 28 cm, length: 22 cm, width: 6.2 cm. 

"The Outline of History", subtitled "Being a Plain History of Life and Mankind", is a work by famed British author H. G. Wells chronicling the history of the world from the origin of the Earth to the First World War.
