Konstantin "Zmogk" Danilov (1979) - Finitude

- Technique details: Acrylic, spray paint and oil pastel on 100% cotton 300gsm canvas. Varnished. - Certificate of Authenticity provided - Delivery stretched on wooden stretcherbars in a wooden crate. In this painting, I explore the perception of time through the body and color. The figure stands in Ardha Baddha Padma Padangusthasana, an asana symbolizing balance, focus, and inner discipline — here becoming a metaphor for the contemplation of what inevitably slips away: time itself. In the figure’s hand, hourglasses filled with glowing sand radiate an unreal light, emphasizing the fragility and preciousness of each passing moment. The illuminated face dissolves between an abstract profile and a skull, reflecting the eternal duality of human existence — life and death, presence and eternity, tension and acceptance. Deep violet and blue tones immerse the space in silence and introspection, while flashes of bright green and yellow at the edges suggest vitality and joy, pulsing beneath stillness. Part of the Borderline States series, the painting embodies the meeting of calm and unease, where color defines emotional focus and hidden impulses vibrate at the edge of perception. Bio. Konstantin Danilov (b. 1979, Moscow) is a painter and muralist based in Athens, Greece. A pioneer of Russia’s 1990s graffiti scene, his practice evolved toward Color Field painting, blending bold spatial compositions with psychological and emotional depth. He has exhibited at major institutions such as the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, RuArts Foundation, and Burning Man x Sotheby’s (New York). His works are part of notable collections, including the STRAAT Museum (Amsterdam), Montresso Foundation, RuArts Foundation, and Sofia Trotsenko Collection. Danilov has held solo shows at Triumph Gallery, Fineart Gallery, and Reloft Art in Moscow, and has participated in international fairs such as Urban Art Fair (Paris) and Affordable Art Fair (Amsterdam). His street art projects span over 20 countries, from Hong Kong to Paris and New York. His work explores themes of emotional perception, ecological fragility, and transformation of personality and the interaction between one’s inner world and the external environment, including in the context of emigration. Using techniques such as painting around the edges of the canvas to reflect the hidden emotional layers that frame our conscious experience. Instagram: @zmogk
