Light green earthenware bottle, molded, lentil-shaped, with a thin neck, flared spout, and two small ear handles. New Year's flasks were so named because they used to contain a liquid that was used in a ceremony to mark the beginning of the new agricultural year, which began in late summer when the Nile River began to overflow.
