Considéré comme un des meilleurs préamplificateur McIntosh à semi-conducteurs, mais surtout comme le meilleur étage phono de tous les McIntosh vintage de cette période.

Une musicalité et une dynamique remarquables, le C30 mérite de piloter une amplification ou une bi-amplification à la hauteur de ses qualités exceptionelles (Threshold, AudioResearch, Phase Linear, Krell, Cary, Carver…)
 
Façade en verre illuminée, iconique de la marque dans un état fantastique, aucune bulle.
Equalizer à 5 étages.
Coffret en bois d’origine avec ses glissières.
Pointes de découplage en laiton massif.

Fabriqué de 1985 à 1987, l’âge d’or de la HiFi.

La numérotation du C30 prête à confusion car il s’agit d’un appareil plus récent que les modèles C31V, C32 et C33. 
Sa conception et ses fonctionnalités sont très similaires à celles du C34V, sans le contrôle de l'amplificateur. 
C’est en fait une qualité, avec ses circuits plus simples et plus directs le C30 est plus transparent et plus silencieux que le C34V.
